Mines, Menomena's most recent Barsuk Records release and the follow up to the acclaimed Friend and Foe (which Pitchfork awarded the vaunted “Best New Music” title and scored an 8.5) is a very muscular record; deeply captivating, and entirely unconventional. I should also note that drummer / vocalist / songwriter Danny Seim spent his teenage years living in Honolulu.
Since its release, Mines has been lauded by critics at music culture observatories from Pitchfork to Paste Magazine (“full-blown insanity finally breaks free of the straightjacket.
